McAninch Student Athlete – Conor Riordan, Ankeny

Conor Riordan has been playing basketball for as long as he can remember. During his first two seasons with the Ankeny Hawks program he led the team in scoring putting up 11.1 points per game as a sophomore and 13.5 during his junior campaign. This season he is putting up 8.1 points per game along with an incredible 26-3 assist to turnover ratio for the undefeated Hawks.

Off the court, Riordan carries an excellent grade point average. In his spare time away from the basketball court, Riordan volunteers at his church along with participating in the “Silver Cord” program at Ankeny High School. The Silver Cord Award is a distinguished volunteer service award available to high school students who earn a minimum of 120 hours of community service/volunteering starting with the beginning of their sophomore year and continuing through their junior and senior years of school. Conor also likes to play golf in his spare time.

Congratulations to Conor Riordan, this weeks McAninch Student Athlete of the week. If you know of the student athlete that is deserving of a nomination, email
