McAninch Student Athlete – Jessica McKee, Johnston

The Drake relays get started today and one of the top athletes competing will be Jessica McKee, a sophomore from Johnston High School. McKee will compete in the 3000, 1500 and the 4 x 800 Relay.

On the track, McKee has posted the 14th fastest time in the 1500, clocking in with a best this season of 4:51.02. She has the 13th best time in the state this year in the 3000 with a best of 10:30.25. And in the 4 x 800 relay, McKee along with Sara Ness, Anna Toot and Josie Hovey have posted the 15th best time in the state of Iowa.

Jessica also competes with the Johnston cross country team, helping the squad to a state championship in 2014 and was named to the all state team. On the state championship season of 2014, McKee finished in 7th place individually. She finished 10th this past season in Class 4A in the state cross country meet.

When McKee isn’t running, she has been an outstanding student in the classroom. McKee has posted a 4.0 grade point average while being named to the Academic All-Conference team and the Academic J team. Jessica enjoys playing soccer and team building activites with the track and cross country teams.
