McAninch Student Athlete – Ross Otte, Dowling Catholic

Last Monday night Dowling Catholic brought home their 3rd straight 4A State Football Championship. They are the first 4A program to accomplish the feat. A big part of their success was from their big play linebacker Ross Otte. Sports Spotlight along with the McAninch Group today names Otte as the Student Athlete of the Week.

Otte is an accomplished player on the football field, basketball court and baseball field. Off the field, Otte is known as a leader in the Dowling Catholic student community. Coaches talked about the hard work that Otte has brought day in and day out during his sports seasons. But his accomplishments are not only on the field, he is a well rounded student athlete.

Not only is Otte a member of the National Honor Society, he is also the NHS president at Dowling Catholic. He is also on the Presidential Honor roll academically. Otte also volunteers his time with the Miracle League, helping children with special needs playing baseball. He also volunteers at Vacation Bible School and Faith and Grace Garden. Otte is involved in Unity Council, Legion of Our Lady, Peer tutors, Student Ambassadors, Dowling Palooza Committee, Dowling Prom Planning Committee, Maroon Crew Leader and Respect Retreat leader.

Congratulations to Ross Otte, this weeks McAninch Student Athlete. If you know of the student athlete that is deserving of a nomination, email trentcondon@gmail.com.
